Burma (Myanmar)

In 2012, Burma quietly opened its doors to responsible tourism and the Burmese people now welcome visitors with broad smiles and open arms.

You will be amazed by the centuries-old city of Bagan, with its extraordinary gathering of awe-inspiring temples; the wonderful sight of the leg-rowers of Inle Lake; and the fabled cities of Rangoon and Mandalay.

A cruise along the Ayeyarwaddy River will provide a different perspective of life and enable you to visit villages which rely on the river for transport and life.

When you visit Burma with Travel Tree, you can be assured that the benefits will flow through to the people of this once proud land, particularly to the children who are the hope for the future.

Join us and we'll show you sights which will blow your mind.

Editor's note: There is a critical shortage of accommodation in Myanmar as a result of few hotels having been built in the past 20 years. We recommend, therefore, that you consider booking 6-12 months in advance to avoid disappointment.

To obtain an entry visa for Myanmar, you need to show proof of arrangements held. In other words, it would be unwise to book flights and think you can automatically obtain a visa.

It's also necessary to understand that very few hotels have been built during the last 20 years and that accommodation is becoming critical in Yangon (Rangoon), Mandalay, Bagan and Inle Lake. It would be foolish to think that you can go without arrangements between October and March. Accommodation eases from April through September, however that's the period you would least wish to visit as it's either dreadfully hot, or dreadfully wet.

Our advice is to secure accommodation first, then get your flights, then apply for your visa.
